Cataracts and Glaucoma

The newest innovation in glaucoma treatment is to proceed with minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) at the time of cataract surgery. There are several surgical options for your surgeon to choose from and they will determine which (if any) are recommended for you to proceed with in conjunction with cataract surgery. Most of these surgeries use the same incision to enter the eye as your surgeon uses to remove the cataract. This additional surgery is done in an attempt to further lower the eye pressure and potentially decrease or discontinue glaucoma medications, although there is no guarantee that glaucoma medications will be able to be decreased after surgery.
